A strategic move against Mainland China navy

Taiwanese military forces are building an airport in the largest island, Taiping, in South China Sea.

Taiping is the only island that Taiwan occupies in Nan Sha so far, it is also the only island in Nan Sha with its own fresh water supply. Vietnam is currently protesting for this construction, however the most worrying man should be in the navy of mainland China. Once Taiwan understands how to take advantage of this airport on Taiping island with its new submarines purchased from US, the oil imports of Mainland from Persian gulf will be in a great danger. An interesting move!

軍方權威管道透露，軍方之所以決定在南海太平島建機場跑道，主要是基於戰略考量，救援運補為輔，「佔得愈久，我方的籌碼就愈多」，以因應將來國際間有關南海談判。為此，國防部還在南海海域規畫兩個潛艦「伏擊區」，以備用兵不時之需。
