Cano has done a great job and Cabrera has acquitted himself well BUT were would we be w/o Wang? His record should actually be better than it currently is. He's saved our bacon!

He is also the MEP.
= Most effective, economical(less than 100 pitches each game in avg), and economic(310 thousand a year) pitcher.

I'd say Wang is fifth among rookie starting pitchers.
Chris Young and Gustavo Chacin have better ERA's. I would also take Joe Blanton and Scott Kazmir over Wang at this point. Yes, their ERA's are slightly worse than Wang's, but they have both pitched near 100 innings.
As for rookie position-players, Tadahito Iguchi has to be the front-runner for ROY at this point.

I'll take Cano for that "award," but it certainly doesn't mean I'm ungrateful to Wang. Wang has stepped up when we've needed him to. He's really amazing. All our rookies are. I mean, Kevin Reese played one game, and I was pretty impressed. Melky Cabrera is 3-7 in his career. That is one good player. And Cano is really one of our best hitters. They're all great.

We won 8 out of 12 when Wang started. Wang leads our rotation in WHIP, SLG, AVG, H9, winning percentage, quality start rate. He outperformed almost every star pitchers we have in our rotation. He constantly step up to end losing streak, and now he help us to pass the Orioles.
In my opinion, Wang has more chance of winning ROY than Cano right now. It's hard to win ROY with AVG under .300. Wang will has good chance of winning ROY if he had more than 15 wins under his belt before the season end. He can easily get more than 16 wins at the rate he's going. (He should've been 8-3 now, and that's not even a full half season) Moreover, Yankee's hitters are awake now, which may help Wang win even without quality start. (although this kid constantly provide quality start)

I think it will be hard to beat out Chris Young of Texas for rookie wins. Young already has 8, and has pretty solid run-support from the Rangers.

Well, 6 is not too far away from 8. (If our BP didn't blow his wins, he has 8 as of today too). Wang and Young has similar stats (ERA, WHIP...etc) It's not that hard to catch up that two wins difference considering Wang's winning percentage. Moreover, our offense have awaken recently. I think if Wang and Young both have similar stats at the end of the season, Wang will has advantage over Young if we made it to the postseason and Rangers doesn't. By all mean, at this point it is still too early to call, but 8-5 and 6-3 ain't really a big difference if they have similar stats.

wang is now listed as #3 in front of May. I guess he is getting some respect now. when brown, wright, and pavano come back....how would you rate the starters in the the depth chart?
i think we have 2 aces in RJ and Moose. Then comes #3 Wang, he gives us a chance to win almost everygame. Not dominating but effective and consistent! Just love that DP. Flash and Toree were saying that Wang has a DP pitch and boy, we've seen it so many times. 3 solid pitchers should be able to do the job. Pavano can come out and have a great 2nd half. I also like Brown and his nasty sinkers. I am begining to feel pretty good about our starting pitchers. Heck...no trades...just go to the farm sys. if pavano or brown should fail. we got more wangs out there in columbus...i mean good starting material guys. Or do you guys think Wang is something special that comes like once in 5 years? When was the last time we brought up a starter in the middle of the season and actually stayed with the team and went on to have a good season???

The last time that we brought up a starter in the middle of the season and actually stayed with the team and went on to have a good season was in 1964!!! (According to a broadcaster in tonight's game, and they actually checked)

you can laugh at me but here are the numbers
in past 2 and half months Wang has won 6 (in 12 starts)
gordon has blown 2
Wang should have won if he started the game vs the redsox
he missed 4 starts before wright placed on DL
Joe skipped him once(in subway series)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
thats what makes me believe he will have 9 more wins in second half of the season
he needs the performance like this to get us into playoff
and to get the rookie award for himself
6 down, 9 more to go

That camera shot in the dugout of Wang, Cabrera, and Cano all sitting together really gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. We have to wait to see how Cabrera does but he's looked good so far and Wang and Cano continue to establish themselves as quality Major League players. My point is just the fact that the Yankees have some young, hungry players on this roster contributing in a pennant race is something different than we're used to seeing the last several years. This is the first time we've been able to see this since Bernie came on the scene in 1991 and Pettitte and Jeter in 1995 and 1996. It is refreshing and enjoyable to watch for sure and I applaud Cashman for his attempt to sprinkle in some youth and start to transition this team into getting younger from within while at the same time allowing the team to contend this year as well. He's kind of rebuilding without rebuilding if you can understand what I mean.
